Well, my fellow people, today was definitely a day of reflection.
I know I did.
I know my friends did.
I have a buddy who grew up in NY/NJ and the area where the towers fell, this was basically his backyard. He had family that worked there. I think his reflection is pretty deep. His family still live there and they still live with the reminders everyday of every week. My heart reaches out to the families and the people of this city. Really, to anyone who was touched personally by this hideous crime of humanity.
With this said, we should not just reflect on just one damned day a year. It should be everyday. EVERYDAY. Yep, you should take a step outside and breathe deeply and thank your lucky stars, your God, your people or whoever you praise that you are able to do this. Just to wake everyday is enough for me.
Now, there is more to this story than just two towers falling on one fateful day. Now the this story entertwines not only one American city.....but......add any police officer, firefighter, military member and civilian across America. That one day, regardless of religion or race, we as Americans pulled together as one and helped each other as one.
Wow.
Fastforward to today. Yesterday, yesterweek. We are arguing over a Mosque. Some guy who wants to call him a man of God (on the Christian side of the house presumeably) wants to burn Qu'rans. When did the human spirit of this day become so spiteful and torn? Where did the love for America go? You do understand that we are showing our children how to solve our problems right? It's definitely not the best way. Kids are a lot smarter than you give them credit for. We are fighting over a piece of land, and wanting to burn someone else's religion. Shit, what else is happening that the news isn't covering?
People of America.....if you really want to change things, maybe you should start at home and look at your own morals and beliefs and check to see what you are teaching the next generation of America. Afterall, they are the ones that are going to either pick up the pieces or keep on the same path of screwing everything up.
